How to Deal With Noises and Distractions in Hypnosis

Ask Sean

Q. How do you deal with sounds and other disturbances when you are hypnotizing a person? Won't these disturbances cause the subject to emerge from hypnosis?

A. Great question! First of all, I have wonderful news for you. Trance is not particularly fragile.

Often new hypnotists feel as though if they stop talking for just a couple of seconds, their subject will pop out of trance. While it is true that if you leave your subject on her own for an extended time, she will emerge herself from hypnosis, you don't have to worry about this happening very quickly.

Now, about distractions. You can keep your subjects from being distracted and popping out of trance by using what I call the "Distraction Filter."

Here is an explanation from a recent course I taught in Las Vegas.

If you'd like to learn more about how to hypnotize someone and how to keep them in trance, you can learn these things and much more with this product.

Street Hypnosis is fun to do, and distractions can easily be overcome by simply suggesting to your subject "You can hear the sounds around you and any and all sounds relaxes you even more."

Another approach would be to say "The more laughter or sounds you may hear, the deeper you relax as you focus and hear my voice clearly."

I love hypnosis.

You?

Awesome video. In fact I think it's essential to use the environment as a deepener. Sounds, wind blowing, etc... The subject needs to know how to respond to all of these "distractions" and expects you - as the hypnotist, the performer - to lead them.

Clinical Hypnosis has offered adherents relief from pain, depression, anxiety, stress, habit disorders, and many other psychological and medical problems. Clinical Hypnosis has been shown particularly effective during childbirth and in pediatric settings, and even provided anesthesia during surgery and painful medical procedures.
