Finger Magnets Wording

Finger Magnets is a hypnotic suggestibility test. Here is the way I present it. "Let's do an imagination exercise or game. Put your hands out in front of you like this and interlock the fingers. Squeeze them very tightly together. Now put your index fingers about half an inch apart and stare at the space between the finger tips. Now I want you to imagine that in those fingertips are powerful magnets and they are drawn together. Watch that space as they start moving closer together... and they want to touch. They are moving closer, and closer and closer...."

Almost Time to Play in Tampa!

Just two more days and I will be off to Tampa to teach instant and rapid inductions. This will be my last class for 2009. I haven't scheduled my 2010 classes yet, but will do so in about a month.

Here is a video of the street hypnosis outing in Las Vegas two weeks ago. The file is password protected and the password is "fashionmall"

I am working on a new book entitled "The Street Hypnotist's Bible" and I plan to publish it in a couple of months. The book will cover basic hypnosis, skits for the street and of course safety.

Hyp on the Strip

Last week I taught a two-day street hypnosis class in Las Vegas. Geoffrey Ronning who probably trains more stage hypnotists than anyone in the world, invited me to come out. What a wonderful class! The people were terrific and on the second afternoon we went down to the Las Vegas Strip and did hypnosis with strangers. What a blast!!! I can't wait to do it again.

Now I just have one more class in 2009 and that is in Tampa, 17-18 October. Then I'm going to take it easy for a few months. I will do a couple of mentorships, but no classes until 2010. Take Care!

Street Hypnosis in NYC

I am writing from the Acela train on my way back to Maryland. Had a BLAST teaching instant and rapid hypnosis in NYC and then doing street hypnosis in Union Square Park. Special thanks to Phil, Brian, Brian, Elliott and Ilya. You made this trip a LOT of fun for me and I have already decided to come back soon.

The weather was fantastic and we introduced a lot of people to hypnosis. What a great time!!!

On My Way to NYC

I am teaching this weekend in New York City so I am writing this entry from the train. Currently we are passing Wilmington, DE. The plan is to teach instant and rapid inductions and then go out into the wild and hypnotize strangers Sunday afternoon. I'm hoping to catch a comedy hypnosis show or two while I'm in the big apple.

The Global Hypnosis Summit is this weekend and I had hoped to do both of my presentations live, but since I'm teaching, I had to submit videos. My topics at the Global Hypnosis ESummit are "The Dave Elman Induction" and "Deepening the Trance."

Last night I watched Matt Davis perform his comedy hypnosis show. It was a tough crowd, but Matt did really great!

Street Hypnosis Report - 13 September 2009

Yesterday was a beautiful day in Annapolis! We arrived around 3:30 at our usual spot by the docks. I had just finished a two-day mentorship with a gentleman from Mexico City and I wanted to give him the chance to do instant inductions "in the wild." He did great!

A group of people approched us as soon as we finished setting up our sign, but they were hesitant to participate. I started them out with the "finger magnets" test. As often happens, each of them wanted to try hypnosis, but nobody wanted to go first so I suggested that they all try it at the same time.

I did a quick Elman group induction and then gave them suggestions for good health and attitude. One young man went very deep so I suggested that he try an instant induction. He dropped like a rock and so I emerged him and handed him off to my mentorship friend and he did an arm pull induction and once again, the young man dropped like a rock. With this little boost of confidence my friend had no trouble hypnotizing at least half a dozen more people before we finished for the day.

Ian worked the camera for me and got some really good footage for youtube.

Ask Sean About Street Hypnosis 9 Sept. 2009

Q: Do you ever do impromptu therapy with the people you hypnotize?

A: Usually no. First of all I believe that we should only do therapy with people when they request it. For instance, If your subject is a smoker, it would not be a good idea to give her an aversion to cigarettes, unless she gave you permission. Also, you should never work with pain or any other medical condition without a referral from a physician. If you subject has back pain and you suggest away the pain, he could walk away and injure himself since the pain is not there to remind him that he is injured.

So, bottom line... Don't do therapy during street hypnosis. Street hypnosis is for education and entertainment only.
